Steenberg police station arrested 95 people during an operation from Friday December 8 to Thursday December 14 for crimes ranging from possession of drugs and assault to possession of dangerous weapons.
Eleven suspects were arrested for attempted murder and one for the possession of a firearm without a licence.
On Thursday December 14, the station also partnered with the City of Cape Town’s Traffic Services to conduct two roadblocks in Prince George Drive and Joe Marks Boulevard.
The roadblock focused on ensuring vehicles were roadworthy, nabbing drunk drivers and searching for drugs.
Authorities stopped 117 vehicles; searched 10 vehicles and issued 35 traffic fines. Officers also distributed pamphlets on safety, domestic violence and stolen goods.
Station commander Colonel Jan Alexander said clamping down on crime and apprehending criminals are high on the agenda.
“In order to combat crime more successfully, the community must work hand in glove with the police. Members of the community are encouraged to be the eyes and ears of the police and to build a good relationship with them. We will continue to maintain a zero tolerance approach in the prevention and investigation of crime,” said Colonel Alexander.
He also wished residents a safe and secure festive sea-
son.
