Wicht Court Association (WCA) in Lavender Hill in conjunction with Dews of Quietness, in Steenberg, and mothers from the area, presented a Trip Around the World food fair, at Wicht Court, on Heritage Day, September 24.
Adele Campbell, chairperson of WCA, said the event was meant to be educational and empowering and was well supported by more than 500 people.
“We were selling different cultural foods to represent a different country.”
Dishes from countries such as Italy, Hawaii, Mexico, India, America and South Africa were on display and jumping castles and live music entertained the supporters.
Ms Campbell said: “We wanted to show the world out there that Lavender Hill is not only about gang violence and shootings but we are mothers who can pull their strengths and resources into right and positive ways.”
