Rondebosch-based Community Media Trust, an NPO that provides media production and interpersonal communication services, has announced its 25th-anniversary campaign “25 Years of Change”.
With over two decades of experience in informing and inspiring South African communities, Community Media Trust’s community-based teams have implemented evidence-based behaviour change programmes, effecting change through strengthening community responses to challenges related to health and well-being.
Their in-person communication campaigns and community-based work ensure linkage to health and social services, supporting thousands of young women and men across South Africa.
Community Media Trust, born during a critical period in South Africa’s healthcare history, emerged as a pivotal force in HIV/Aids advocacy. Their journey began with documenting the Treatment Action Campaign’s fight for accessible antiretroviral therapy. Through treatment literacy initiatives, they empowered individuals with accurate information, creating materials in multiple languages for training and public dissemination.
While their Siyayinqoba brand remains true to its roots and continues to focus on HIV, the organisation has expanded to include other crucial health information in their campaigns, addressing issues such as nutrition, maternal and child health, and Covid-19 vaccinations.
Over the 25 years, they have executed mass media campaigns across multiple platforms including television, radio, digital, and out-of-home media.
They have also developed, produced, and directed award-winning prime-time television dramas and documentaries.
Their commitment extends to community development, upskilling young black media professionals, and fostering inclusivity.
Community Media Trust is a Level 2 B-BBEE compliant company with Section 18A status.
“25 Years of Change” showcases the flagship projects that have kept Community Media Trust relevant and agile over the years.
As part of the campaign, they have unveiled a rebranded and rejuvenated website, making it easy to access vital information and learn more about its projects and services.
“Our 25th anniversary is a remarkable milestone for Community Media Trust,” says CMT Co-CEO Lucilla Blankenberg.
“We are excited to celebrate this momentous occasion with our ‘25 Years of Change’ campaign. This campaign is a testament to the resilience and impact that Community Media Trust has had in transforming communities across South Africa.”
