The Cape of Good Hope SPCA is launching its popular Tats4Tails project this month, which sees a local tattoo studio partnering with the animal welfare charity to raise funds for the organisation’s work..
Now in its fourth year, Tats4Tails has seen several well-known Cape Town personalities all get “inked” as part of the fund-raiser, which aims to raise money specifically to support animals sheltered at the SPCA.
The 7 x 7 cm tattoos, in a design of the person’s choice, are offered at R800 each at the Primal Culture Tattoo Studio in Diep Rivier – but only from Monday January 23 to Sunday January 29.
Thanks to event co-sponsors Lionel’s Choice and Identipet, participants will also be able to get their pets microchipped at the SPCA for just R100.
The SPCA has dealt with an increase in the number of animals being surrendered over the past couple of months as a result of the focus on pit bull-type breeds – in addition to the high number of animals admitted as strays and never claimed by their owners.
