Theresa Jones, founder of the Shelter of Hope NPO in Steenberg, hosted a Mother’s Day lunch for about 30 women from Steenberg, Lavender Hill and Retreat, on Monday May 14. The women were given an opportunity to talk about their life experiences. Abe Braaf, a paralegal, handed over a special certificate to Ms Jones for her “motherly” role in the community, and a certificate of attendance to each mother. Mr Braaf encouraged the mothers to get involved in the projects planned by Shelter of Hope, such as school after care, women’s group, men’s group, children’s ministry, the Steenberg community marching
cadets and senior groups. Ms Jones invites anyone who can help with donations towards these projects to contact her on 063 626 1784 or email Theshelterofhope@gmail.com or drop donations off at 109 Beethoven Street, Retreat. Pictured with Ms Jones, in the middle, in front, are the mothers with their certificates.
