The official celebration to mark the first anniversary of the Grassy Park and Surrounds Scholar Association (GPSSA) was held at Kannemeyer Primary School, on Saturday December 2.
The association was formed after a group of drivers met at a gathering hosted by Child Safe South Africa at Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital early last year.
The drivers pledged to transport pupils to and from school safely and on time while forming a structure to support each other.
GPSSA members invited the principals of Fairview, EC and Kannemeyer primary schools to the anniversary to thank them for partnering in the child safety initiative (“Drivers improve road safety”, Southern Mail, September 13).Regan Hope, chairman, said they would like to broaden their horizon by inviting more principals of more schools to use their ser-
vices.
Aubrey de Wet, principal of Fairview Primary School, thanked GPSSA. “We will see that we support (GPSSA) with transporting of our kids and we thank them for keeping our kids safe.”
Paul Sassman, principal of EC Primary School, said: “I like the idea of expanding to include more schools because the safety of our kids is paramount.”
