Vrygrond NPO Where Rainbows Meet hosted its annual Women’s Day event to celebrate being a woman of worth.
A total of 450 women from Vrygrond and the surrounding communities crammed into the Capricorn Primary School to attend the event which was held on Wednesday August 9.
Women were encouraged with motivational talks, dancing and given a safety talk.
Women and children’s rights activist Lucinda Evans encouraged the women to continue to be pillars of the community while Where Rainbows Meet founder Mymoena Scholtz encouraged women to stand up for their rights.
Sergeant Khaniso Tule, from Muizenberg police, explained the steps to take when women are in abusive relationships.
Dance group Izikaza and the Siyazenzela women’s group kept crowd entertained and the women were also treated to gifts and treats.
