Athlone Athletics Baseball Club got the better of Maitland Giants in a Cape Town Baseball Federation’s Major League fixture in Athlone on Saturday, December 14.
The A’s won 3-1 in front of an entertained crowd, maintaining the third spot on the log, after nine wins and three losses in 12 matches.
With VOB Macaw dropping points to the Bellville Tygers, after a 4-8 loss, at the weekend, they moved to second position, following 10 wins and three losses.
Bothasig Knights had to climb from third spot to take the lead this weekend with a 13-7 win against Durbanville Villains in Bothasig. They’ve won 11 and lost two in 13 games.
The mid-table is made up of Tygers, Villains, Thistles and Grassy Park Crusaders.
The defeat, on the other hand, is Maitland Giants 11th in 12 matches, dropping them to the bottom of the log.
With the teams going on a two week holiday, Athlone A’s will continue their proceedings against VOB Macaw in the new year, on January 11.
