Covid Christmas clears the beach

Muizenberg Beach is traditionally one of the most popular holiday beach destinations, but this year the beach is all but deserted just days before Christmas thanks to the impact of Omicron, the resulting travel ban and the fourth-wave of infections.
Usually there’s no space to even find a patch of grass at Muizenberg for Christmas.
All but deserted: this is unlike the traditional thrumming beach scenes at Christmas.
