The annual Cape Town Pride Festival’s Pride Parade and Mardi Gras will take place on Saturday March 1, bringing to an end the three-week event which started on February 6.

During this time, different venues across the city participated in the festival events, hosting drag shows, LGBTQI+ movie nights, and parties under this year’s theme Pride is RainbowID.

The parade, where members of the diverse LGBTQI+ community march to celebrate their pride, starts at 11am in Alfred Street, De Waterkant, and is free to join.

The parade ends at Green Point Track, where festivities continue at the Pride Mardi Gras.

Artists include Craig Lucas and his band, Jimmy Nevis, He Plays Violin, soprano Lynelle Kenned, DJ Lelowhatsgood, MC Squared, Morocco based DJ MR. LOVING, Stella Rosé, and 3 Tons of Fun.

Tollie Parton, star of the Showmax talk show, Die Tollie & Manila Show, will be the MC for the day along with Jarrad Ricketts.

The Kings Collab (a Drag Kings and Things collective) will be performing, and the Voguers will also return this year.

The stars of the hit show Beaulah: Queens van de Kaap will also be taking to the stage.

There will be food on sale, a pride market and an NGO Village where different different organisations who work in within the LGBTIQ+ sector can promote the work they do.

Newly appointed Cape Town Pride Brand Ambassador Nkosinathi Sangweni waka Mtshali said: “As Cape Town comes alive with the colours of Pride 2025, let us take a moment to honour those who paved the way for our freedoms while holding space for those who, for various reasons, cannot celebrate with us. Pride is a moment of joy and unity, but it is also a reminder of the work that remains. So, let’s march, dance, and celebrate — but let’s not be oblivious to the fight that continues for equal rights, representation, and justice for all.”

General access tickets for the Pride Mardi Gras are available at Quicket.
