The singer-songwriter is on a roll, brushing off the haters from her shoulders after trending for a week due to her MTV Video Music Award moment and rejecting R&B icon Usher's invitation to dance. Now, she is set to strut on the Victoria Secret Fashion Show runway for a performance.
After a six-year hiatus, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is returning, and they have announced Tyla as a musical headliner for their 2024 comeback.
The Grammy Award-winning star is set to share the stage with icons such as Tyra Banks, Paloma Elsesser, Gigi Hadid, and many other top models who will be walking the runway.
The Rolling Stone magazine reported that Victoria’s Secret says they chose Tyla for her “vibrant personality” as well as her “innovative take on pop and R&B”, while hailing her as an “integral” part of the entertainment, glamour and fashion for their 2024 show.
“Growing up, I was captivated by the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show-the stunning outfits, iconic wings, and charismatic models. Now I’m thrilled to be performing on this nostalgic and legendary stage.
“What’s even more exciting is the celebration of diversity, showcasing a broader range of beauty, which makes this moment truly special,” Tyla said in a statement.
The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show will return on October 15, after a brief break amid criticism from the public in 2018 for its lack of inclusivity and promotion of unrealistic beauty standards.
The “Water” hitmaker joins an elite list of past performers that includes Rihanna, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, to name a few.
