Children can enjoy rides at the Cape Town Society of Model and Experimental Engineers exhibition weekend.
The Cape Town Society of Model and Experimental Engineers will be hosting an exhibition weekend on Saturday November 9, from 9.30am to 4pm, and Sunday November 10, from 9.30am to 2pm.
The club is situated on the corner of Erin, Duke and Campground roads in Croquet Lane behind the Rondebosch Croquet Club.
There will be rides for the children on the 5in gauge live steam/electric engine. The cost per ride will be R5 a child.
For those who want to try slot car racing, a track will be set up.
The following layouts will be operational: O Gauge; HO Gauge; N Gauge; and G Scale garden railway.
There will be a display of static steam engines, which will be run off compressed air, as well as hot air engines.

The N Gauge Modular section will be displaying their show module which will be fully operational.
Thomas Cullinan from BPM Tool Craft will be displaying various tools required for modelling and equipment required for building a model train layout.
Shaun Le Roux from Cape Model Trains will be displaying various items of South African Railway equipment and memorabilia, which will also be for sale.
Steve Norman from Bestoys will be displaying model cars, which will also be for sale.
The following clubs will be displaying various items of their equipment: Western Province Live Steamers; Radio control car club; Radio control boats club; and Radio control aircraft club.
The club’s surplus magazines and books will be on display and sold at bargain prices.
The entry fee is R30 an adult and R10 for children under the age of 15.
Proceeds will be used for maintenance of the club house and to fund the various sections of the club with their projects.
