Mandy Hagan evicted Mandy from Big Brother season 5

Evicted Big Brother Mzansi housemate Mandy Hagan has opened up about her experience in the house and how being on the show has boosted her confidence about her body.
The 26-year-old mother of one, whose real name is Amanda Makhathini, has told IOL about the challenges of being a big girl on reality TV, reflecting on the insecurities of her body and being the only big girl in the “Big Brother Mzansi” house.
On Sunday, Mandy was evicted from the Big Brother Mzansi Season 5 house along with three others.
"Big Brother changed my changed my life, it is not easy being a big girl on TV," she told IOL during an interview in Rosebank this week.
Mandy said she was proud to have represented plus-size women on the platform, explaining that plus size women in the industry were now represented and also seen as beautiful and confident.
She said being in the house had presented her with massive exposure and it had provided her a platform to show the rest of the media industry of her talents.
The Orange Farm-born contestant said she has big dreams to become an actress and she also wants to open her own beauty salon.
She currently runs an informal business in the beauty space, where she installs wigs and does face beats in her hometown.
Mandy expressed how grateful she was for her fans after they opened a Mandy Hagan fundme account last week. The account, which was opened last week, is aimed at raising funds to assist her with opening her dream salon.
The money that has been raised in the account is undisclosed as it is being raised through a private channel and not through a publicly listed crowdfunding account.
Mandy has been vocal about the struggles of not having a matric qualification, often reflecting on this during her time in the house. She also shared how she worked as a child minder because she struggled to find other means of employment.
"I don't have a matric, it is hard to find a job without a matric, the opportunities it is difficult, you cannot even find a cleaning job these days without matric," she said.
She said she felt she had disappointed her family, by not winning the life-changing R2 million grand prize. Mandy said the grand prize would have changed her life.
