In the tranquil landscape of Vaughan, Ontario, a new home combines minimalist design with rich, earthy tones inspired by the homeowners' Italian roots. Situated on the former site of a 1940s property, this home is a dream come true for a young family with a love for Tuscany.
Designed by interior architect Samantha Brocca of Studio Brocca, the residence is a masterpiece of understated luxury, featuring a harmonious blend of natural materials, warm beige hues, and sculptural accents. Pantone’s 2025 Colour of the Year, Mocha Mousse, is tastefully incorporated into the home’s palette, providing a sense of richness and tranquility that grounds the space with depth and warmth.
Samantha Brocca describes the design process as a balancing act between clean, linear shapes and the introduction of playful curves. From the circular light fixtures to the curvaceous accent chairs, the result is a space that feels sophisticated yet welcoming. The designer’s biggest challenge? Integrating tall windows with the millwork while maintaining the fluidity of the space.
With its four bedrooms spread over three levels, the 3,500-square-foot home creates a perfect balance of symmetry and dynamic elevation. The design incorporates sleek materials, including terracotta and marble with green and brown undertones, all tied together by warm woods and muted bronze accents.
A highlight of the space is the master ensuite, where rich green marble captures the essence of the Italian countryside, offering a visual connection between the interior and exterior greenery.
The homeowners, originally from Italy, worked closely with Brocca to bring their vision to life. “We feel that the colour palette reminds us of the Tuscan wine country,” they share, “and the contemporary touches bring the Tuscan palette into modern design.” For the family, this home represents both a connection to their heritage and a space for creating memories as they raise their two young boys.
The thoughtful incorporation of Mocha Mousse, paired with the green marble and wood elements, creates an inviting and serene atmosphere throughout the house. As Brocca reflects on the project, she explains, “Warm minimalism was created through clean lines and natural materials, and playful geometry was added with curves in the stair pickets and circular light fixtures.”
This home in Vaughan is a testament to the power of thoughtful design that connects past and present, nature and home, simplicity and sophistication.
