Mzansi stars, Maps Maponyane, Kuhle Adams, Robot Boii and more come out for SA Fashion Week opening party
THE South African Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2025 is in full swing but before the models hit the runway, the who’s who of Mzansi gathered for a night of fun ushering in the fashion event.
Cruz Vodka ensured hosting yet another unforgettable opening party for South African Fashion Week. In tune with previous parties, a new venue was used, The Venue in Morningside which overlooks the Sandton skyline.
The event drew the crème de la crème of the South African fashion scene, setting a high bar for style, sophistication, and innovation ahead of the week-long fashion extravaganza.
Embracing the glitz and glamour of New York’s legendary nightlife, the dress code encouraged guests to showcase their bold interpretations of disco-inspired couture.
Among the notable guests was "stylist to the stars" Phupho Gumede who is making these parties his creative playground. Earlier this year, he was a bouquet of flowers, and this time he turned to Cher for his Studio 54 inspiration.
Durban’s charismatic socialite, Naliyani Uma, who is currently featuring on reality show “The Mommy Club: Sugar and Spice”, turned up ready to impress.
Rapper Gigi La Mayne interpreted the 1970s discos theme in a very interesting with way with her barely there leather skirt and crop top number. As they say, fashion is about pushing boundaries.
TV presenter Maps Maponyane on the other hand, could have been mistaken for the late American singer Prince with his groovy outfit, which had an unbuttoned shirt.
Other guests also included Penny Lebyane, Robot Boii, Kayise Ngqula, Yaya Mavundla, Money Badoo, Jo Judnick- Wilson, Vourne Kgosinkwe, DJ Doowap, Margo Fargo, Lord Kez and the reigning Mr Supranational Fezile Mkhize, who brought their unique style and charisma to the red carpet.
Media personalities Zanele Potelwa, Caddy Tsotetsi and Dimpho Mokgotho showed up, as well as “Big Brother Titans” winner Khosi Twala. Social media stars Coachella Randy and Kagiso Mogola were seen in their personal rendition of the Studio 54 theme with their fashion ensembles.
Fashion designers Ole Ledimo and Msukisi Mbane truly delivered the essence of their brands, and it was also good seeing guests wear local designers at the party.
Entertainment for the night included a Studio 54 themed showcase, with the iconic first lady of dance Tamara Dey alongside LeloWhatsGood and Tink, who kept the energy high and the dance floor alive.
