How to sweat-proof your makeup this summer

Summer is great for beach days and outdoor fun, but not so much for keeping your makeup in place. 

Between the heat and humidity, it’s easy for your makeup to melt, smudge, or fade. 

But don’t worry! With the right tricks and products, you can keep your look fresh all day, no matter how hot it gets. 

Here’s how to sweat-proof your makeup like a pro.

Start with a clean, moisturised base

Before you even think of applying makeup, ensure your skin is clean and well-prepped. 

Use a lightweight, oil-free cleanser to remove excess oils and sweat. 

Follow up with an oil-free or mattifying moisturiser to hydrate your skin without making it greasy.

Look for moisturisers with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, which hydrates without adding excess oil.

Apply a sweat-proof primer

A good primer acts as a barrier between your skin and makeup, helping it last longer. 

Choose a mattifying or sweat-resistant primer that controls oil and reduces shine.

Silicone-based primers work well to create a smooth, long-lasting base. 

If you have dry skin, opt for a hydrating primer to prevent flakiness.

Choose a lightweight, long-wear foundation

Heavy foundations can feel suffocating and may slide off in the heat. 

Instead, go for a lightweight, sweat-resistant foundation or a tinted moisturiser with SPF. 

Look for long-wear or waterproof formulas that provide coverage without clogging your pores.
