Korean Ranger Rover? New Hyundai Palisade revealed with luxurious vibes

Hyundai has revealed the first images of its second-generation Palisade flagship SUV in its home market of South Korea.

The newcomer takes some of its design influence from the latest Santa Fe, and there are more than a few hints of Range Rover style in places, particularly around the side profile and rear lights.

The Korean company has yet to reveal the technical details of the new Palisade, but says it boasts a longer wheelbase than the outgoing version, while the front overhang is marginally shorter. The current Palisade is already quite sizable, with an overall length of just under five metres and a wheelbase measuring 2.9 metres.

While we don’t yet know what will power the new model, it is quite possible that it will follow the latest Santa Fe in ditching diesel power. The current Palisade is only offered with a 2.2-litre turbodiesel in South Africa and if this engine is no longer available for the new model it could harm the business case to bring it here.

The new Palisade is likely to be offered with a four-cylinder turbopetrol engine in most international markets, with hybrid versions reportedly also possibly coming into the picture.

Inside the Palisade sports a new dashboard complete with a curved upper section and new 12.3-inch dual screens. Hyundai has also retained physical buttons for some of the vehicle’s functions, including climate.

Depending on the market, the 2025 Hyundai Palisade will be available with seating for up to nine occupants, with the front of the cabin also converting into a three-seat layout when needed thanks to a large central armrest that can fold upwards, albeit sacrificing the charging pad and cupholders in the process.

Following the release of the initial pictures, Hyundai is expected to release more information on the 2025 Palisade in the next few weeks.
