Cops put the focus on safety in the streets

Sergeant Luqmaan Adams was part of the crime prevention initiative in Retreat.

Steenberg Police hosted an awareness programme at the Shoprite shopping centre in Retreat Road last week as part of a safety in the street campaign.

Sergeant Luqmaan Adams, the station’s social crime prevention officer, set up a table outside of the busy shop on Friday June 4 to speak to residents about how to keep safe in different situations.

Sergeant Adams gives two senior women pamphlets and info on crime prevention.

Sergeant Adams concentrated on seniors as well as children as it was Child Protection Week. Residents were able to ask questions and seek assistance as well as get pamphlets and information to report or help.
