Book festival fun

Authors, illustrators, poets and performers gathered at the second Cape Flats Book Festival in Mitchell’s Plain at the weekend.

Pictured right is author Sara-Jayne Makwala King, from Plumstead with Janine Overmeyer, author and executive director of Mitchell’s Plain-based non-profit organisation Blaqpearl Foundation. They planted their thumb-prints on a tree of authors and illustrators.

They shared their love for words and expression in workshops, presentations, book stall chats and panel discussions.

Pictured right is David Kabeyah, from Heathfield, social media manager for Heal the Hood, a youth development organisation based in Grassy Park. With him is dance facilitator Tyler Botha, from Strandfontein Village.
