Help police find culprits

Police are appealing for help in murder and culpable homocide investigations.

Police are requesting the help of the community in the investigation of two separate cases which resulted in the death of a man and a woman.

A woman was killed in what Steenberg police believe to be a hit-and-run incident in Choir Street, Steenberg, at about 10.35pm on Saturday March 4.

Police spokesperson Captain Richard Marcus said the 50-year-old woman was knocked down by an unknown vehicle which drove away from the scene and a case of culpable homicide has been opened.

He appealed to anyone with information about the incident or any information that could lead to the identification of the vehicle or driver to come forward and contact investigating officer Sergeant Mfeka on 072 629 9318 or 021 702 9000.

In another case, the body of a man was found against a wall along Chad Street in Lakeview on Saturday February 26, at about 9.30pm.

Captain Marcus said officers were called to the crime scene where they found the victim with head injuries. He was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel.

Follow up information confirmed the man was affiliated to a gang.
