Movie stars Lucky Tyokwana, Moses Molieana, Bongani Mathiso, Dillon Fletcher, Telan Jacobs and Xolisa Sobada who featured in the film, The Beautiful Game.
There was much jubilation at the official premiere of the movie, The Beautiful Game, at the Artscape theatre on Wednesday March 27, as some familiar faces popped up on the big screen - the film featured six soccer players from Oasis FC Reach For Your Dreams, a soccer club in Schaapkraal.
The film tells of the true-life events of the Homeless World Cup (HWC), held annually in different countries. The film was shot in 2022 in Italy and was launched globally on Netflix on Friday March 29.
Although The Beautiful Game is a fictional movie it covers the very real Homeless World Cup tournament, which has brought hundreds of people from all over the world together and is organised by the Homeless World Cup Foundation, a social organisation which advocates the end of homelessness through sport.
The organisation puts together an annual tournament where teams of homeless people compete, giving them an opportunity to a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
