Ocean View’s Captain Louise Louw-Steenkamp is the new police chief at Genadendal police station in the Overberg.
After receiving a promotion, Captain Louise Louw-Steenkamp has left Ocean View police station to return to where her policing career began.
Captain Louw-Steenkamp has been promoted from Warrant Officer, and she is now the police chief of the Genadendal police station in the Overberg. Her career in law enforcement started at Bredasdorp police station in the Overberg region in 2002.
Mitchell’s Plain and Fish Hoek were among the police stations she worked at before landing in Ocean View where she spent two and half years as the operational commander.
"Now is a new chapter in my career as an officer and commander in the SAPS. I am excited for the challenge ahead, which I know I will tackle with commitment and passion to serve the community I will be responsible for,“ she said.
Looking back on her time at Ocean View SAPS, Captain Louw-Steenkamp said teamwork had led to important achievements.
“We caught wanted suspects, seized firearms, and fought against drug-related crimes. We had great successes in the time I worked at Ocean View SAPS,“ she said.
Ocean View police chief Lieutenant Colonel Rewayne Muller praised her contribution to the station.
"She actively participated in all operations and led the majority of our crime prevention efforts. Her involvement in tracking suspects in murder cases was just one example of her many contributions. While we'll miss her, we wish her the best in her new role as station commander,"
Captain Louw-Steenkamp urged the community to seek the good in others and emphasised the importance of unity in fostering positive change.
