Charlene Josephs was taken from her home in St Montague Village a week ago.
The family of a missing woman said they’re worried sick and are praying for her safe return.
Charlene Josephs was allegedly taken from her St Montague Village home in Lavender Hill last Wednesday, July 10, by a group of men who dragged her into a car and sped off.
A family member, who spoke to the Southern Mail on condition of anonymity, in fear of reprisal, believed the abduction was gang-related, but said Ms Josephs was not gang affiliated.
According to the family, her stepson is a gangster and was arrested for shooting three people, killing two and injuring one.
The person said their family now lives in fear but wants answers and want her to be released by her captives.
Steenberg police confirmed that a missing person case is being investigated and said they are doing everything they can to find Ms Josephs.
Captain Marco Lambert said Ms Josephs was at home when there was a knock on the door at about 9pm.
“When she opened the door six men entered the home and dragged her out into a car.”
Asked about the allegation that gangsters targeted Ms Josephs, Captain Lambert said they are looking into the matter and are following up on all leads.
“We can confirm that the stepson is a gangster who is affiliated to the Junky Funky Kids (JFK) who is currently in custody for murder. I can also confirm that she (Ms Josephs) is not an informant in that case so the rumours are not true - we received other information and did an investigation that led to his arrest,” said Captain Lambert.
