Grade 6 pupils can apply for the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation’s Scholarship Programme for Young Entrepreneurial Development.
The foundation launched the scholarship across South Africa to give young potential entrepreneurs an opportunity to develop essential entrepreneurial skills, and receive the support needed to grow their dreams into reality.
The scholarship offers funding for pupils to attend top high schools nationwide where they will be able to access workshops, seminars, and inspiring speakers and will get continuous mentorship to guide their development throughout high school.
The scholarship covers tuition and boarding, uniform, stationery, textbooks, toiletries, casual clothing, a monthly allowance and support for extra murals
To qualify for the scholarship, Grade 6 pupils must demonstrate academic excellence, entrepreneurial leadership potential, as well as financial need.
To apply the applicant must be in Grade 6 this year, must not be older than 12 years of age and not younger than 11 (must be born in 2012 and 2013) and must have obtained a minimum of 70% for English and Mathematics in Grade 5. The pupil’s household income must not exceed a monthly gross income of R20 000 (including business revenue) and must be a South African citizen.
