Portland pensioner Carol Apollis checks her blood pressure at the wellness day for seniors held by the Portland Community Safety and Development Foundation on Saturday October 5.
The Portland Community Safety and Development Foundation held a wellness day for 200 Portland pensioners on Saturday October 5.
Volunteers from the organisation checked their blood pressure and glucose and gave them foot, head and neck massages and a healthy meal.
“Our pensioners are valuable to us. We do this to make them know that we have not forgotten about them and the work they have done in the community when they were in their youth. We need to do more to show appreciation to our elderly, especially in the last part of their life,” said the organisation’s chairperson, Ashwin Johnson.
