Pupils from the Grade 4E1 class at Perivale Primary School, in Lotus River, were rewarded for their efforts in the Green Shoots online mathematics programme.
Sharief Pandey, the Green Shoots teacher, said: “Green Shoots Maths Curriculum Online (MCO) is an online mathematics programme for Grades 3 to 9 learners. It follows the current CAPS curriculum in the South Africa context. Schools that are using the programme will have the learners registered. Each learner will have his/her username name. Classes go to the computer room once a week for about two hours. Learners will do brain quests that will cover the content of mathematics for said week of the term.
“It has been very challenging as learners had to work in split groups due to limited computer resources. There are 39 learners in the class, but the following learners were awarded certificates due to their outstanding performances. Luke Wood, achieving 85%+ for all brain quests completed; Fatimah Taliep, achieving 80%+ for all brain quests completed; Cole Africa, completing all brain quests in term 3 with an average above 75% and Rebeca Makuvire, meticulously completing brain quests.”
