Durbanville Lions Club is set to host their first “Walk in Heels for GBV” campaign, on Saturday March 8, with the aim of supporting victims of gender-based violence.
The walk, on International Women's Day, will be held at the De Ville Centre, a shopping mall in Durbanville.
Each participant will need to gather sponsorships from friends, family, or colleagues, who will pledge a certain amount per lap walked in heels. Each lap is 20 metres long, and the challenge is to see how many laps you can complete.
The sessions will happen from 10am until 10.45am and again from 11am until 11.45am.
“We’re calling on men to step up. Show your solidarity by walking a few laps in high heels while family and friends cheer you on,” said Danielle Cronje, the president of the Durbanville Lions Club.
Each participant needs to bring their own pair of high heels. The organisers will arrange a few pairs but might not have all the sizes.
All proceeds will support Olympians Social Development and Durbanville Lions Club GBV projects.
You can get the sponsorship form here.
If you want to join, you can email info.durbanvillelionsclub@gmail.com or contact Ms Cronje on WhatsApp on 0839929411.
