Former teachers, pupils and other guests attended the unveiling of a new computer centre at Crestway High School, in Retreat, last Tuesday, March 11.
According to Tania George and Valda Clarke of the Alumni Steering Committee, who were at the school from 1981 to 1985, the Paul and Sheila Magerman Computer Centre was unveiled by their son, Fabian Magerman, in honour of Paul Magerman, former principal of Crestway High.
Ms George said: “Fadiel Karriem, William Leith and Mogamat Abrahams (former teachers), spoke fondly of their time at Crestway and their relationship with the esteemed Mr Magerman. Cheryl Jacobs, the current principal, gave an account of when she started at Crestway and was appointed permanently by Mr Magerman.”
Ms George said this initiative started in April 2024 when Fabian Magerman, group CEO of Moovfuel Energy, approached the alumni, wanting to make a difference. “Thank you Fabian Magerman and the Moovfuel Energy Team, you have made a difference to the Crestway community. Gratitude is extended to Ms Jacobs and her team, the Western Cape Education Department and their team, and the Crestway Alumni team, not forgetting those who laboured in the background.”
Ms George calls on all alumni to make contact with them and “help build Crestway in the best way".
