A Wynberg resident is asking for help to feed the needy through his non-profit company.

Maahier Karriem founded InFarmer during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

Together with his team, they have been feeding the community throughout the year including in this Islamic holy month of Ramadaan.

They support communities, soup kitchens, schools, orphanages, and old age homes. “The areas we serve include Lotus River, Parkwood, Ottery, Grassy Park, Woodstock, Salt River, Ocean View, Hanover Park, Cafda Retreat, Capricorn, Seawinds, Rocklands, New Woodlands, Pelican Park, and Tafelsig,” said Mr Karriem.

They will be distributing Fitra (alms of human nature) parcels and Eid hampers. Packing takes place on Saturday March 22, the 21st day of Ramadaan.

Mr Karriem said this year's Ramadaan feeding initiative provides two to three meals daily in two to three communities. A hamper filled with essential food items can be sponsored for R350.

"We welcome contributions in sadaqah (voluntary act of charity), zakah (obligatory means of charity), fidiyah (payment made to compensate for missed fasts), and fitrah.”

Mr Karriem said they appeal to the community, businesses or organisations for any monetary contributions and donations including non-perishable food items, clothing, educational materials, and household essentials. "We believe every donation is a lifeline for someone in need and an investment in a stronger, more compassionate society.”
