After years without outdoor play equipment, Sunrise Educare Centre in Elfindale, has launched a new play park, thanks to generous donations from the Department of Social Development and Revelstone, ensuring children have safe access to play, according to councillor Kevin Southgate. The centre is a school for children with intellectual and physical disabilities, including those with profound challenges.

"I would like to thank everyone involved in the project and wish the learners many happy and joyful experiences in the park," said Mr Southgate.

Principal Hein Kruger said they welcome the playground.

"The normal play area is not suited for special needs children. Some are in wheelchairs, but only a minority can use a normal play park. This equipment is custom-made for children with disabilities. The wheelchair goes on the swing, then it locks, to protect the child."

He said the roundabout also has secure measures in place.
