The youth development initiative should be supported by businesses.

Thank you for covering the story about the youth developmental work done by the Cape Metro Matching Association (“Workshop aims to drum up change”, Southern Mail, June 4).
A few months ago I was invited by Roy Prinsloo to a similar gathering held at Zwaanswyk Academy, in Retreat.
I was impressed with the enthusiasm of the participating learners drawn from various schools across the South Suburbs such as Ocean View, Steenberg, including as far as Delft.
What I noticed is that these kids come from good homes, and that this 'sport' is a youth development programme which deserves and merits funding support from the business community at large such as Sanzaf, Islamic Relief (90% of their donations leaves the country monthly), Gift of the Givers to ensure that these marching band kids are guaranteed a hot meal and subsidised bus transport of these regional marching band indabas or rallies.
