An urgent warning goes out to residents to report cable theft. Fiber cables have been stolen in the Steenberg policing precinct: The theft of these cables causes disruptions to the internet services at schools, homes, and businesses.

Fiber cables are only accessible through manholes that are secured and can only be opened with a specialised key and an authorised technician.

Any person who is found in possession of the specialised key depicted in the photograph is illegally in possession thereof and should be reported to the police immediately.

Anyone with any information or who knows of any person who is in possession of the specialised key can contact Steenberg SAPS on 021 702 9000, Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or use the mobile application MySAPS anonymously.
