Cops seize cocaine with an estimated street value of R500 000

A large quantity of cocaine valued at approximately R500 000 was confiscated during the operation in Parkwood, on Wednesday, July 23, at 6pm.

Grassy Park police spokesperson Sergeant Alridge Isaacs said: “The police units, Operation Shanela II and Grassy Park Crime Prevention Unit, arrested four male suspects, aged between 24 and 46, who were found in possession of a substantial quantity of cocaine with an estimated street value of R500 000.

The drugs were confiscated as evidence.

Mandrax tablets were confiscated in Phumlani Village, after suspects were arrested.

All four suspects are expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court once formal charges have been filed.

  • Grassy Park police officers arrested a 61-year-old man in Phumlani Village, following a tip-off about drugs being stored at his residence on Friday, July 25, at 5am.

Sergeant Isaacs said: “During the operation, police confiscated a total of 1062 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R43 400.”

The suspect will appear in the Wynberg Magistrate's Court once he has been charged.
