Successful firearm confiscation in Grassy Park leads to arrest

A 25-year old man was arrested and the revolver seized as evidence.

Members of Public Order Police (POP) successfully confiscated a firearm in Grassy Park and a 25-year-old man was arrested, on Sunday, August 3, around 2pm.

Provincial police spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, said police officers were performing patrols in Acacia Road, Grassy Park, when they noticed a suspect who tried to evade them.

“The members accosted the suspect, searched him and found a revolver in his possession. The 25-year-old man was arrested and the revolver seized as evidence,” said Colonel Pojie.

The suspect appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court onTuesday, August 5.
