A 39-year-old man was arrested in Lotus River after police found 798 mandrax tablets in his possession on Thursday, August 21.
Grassy Park police spokesperson, Sergeant Alridge Isaacs, said the sector commanders had received information about alleged drug dealing at a house in Eland Avenue.
“Upon arrival at the premises, the homeowner was seen holding a blue plastic bag. When he noticed the police, he attempted to flee but was ordered to stop. He then dropped the bag next to him,” Sergeant Isaacs said.
The bag was opened in his presence and found to contain mandrax tablets.
The suspect was arrested on the scene for dealing in drugs. He is expected to appear in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court once formally charged.
