Amidst a social landscape often dominated by the allure of partying, social life, and widespread distractions, three young women from the Cape Flats have made a powerful statement by dedicating years to sacred study. They have successfully completed the Hifth-ul-Qur’an, the memorisation of the entire holy Qur’an, and earned the revered title of haafitha.
The monumental final honouring ceremony took place on Thursday, November 6, at the Masjidul Kareem Hall in Eagle Park.
This achievement, celebrated by Cape Town Islamic Education Centre (CTIEC) Zia Ul Banaat Hifth School in Eagle Park, shines a much-needed spotlight on the dedication and positive focus within the Cape Flats youth, often overshadowed by negative media portrayals.
In an age where many young people are primarily focused on going out and immediate gratification, the perseverance shown by these graduates is particularly inspiring. Their success stands as a profound testament to choosing discipline and faith over passing social trends.
The newly crowned Haafithas; Zahra Binti Sameer Vallie, Zahraa Baker, and Natheerah Lombard were publicly tested on their knowledge, confirming their mastery through flawless recitation.
The institution hailed the achievement, noting, "This is a truly special journey for these young women, who have spent years with dedication and perseverance to memorize the Glorious Qur’an and carry its light in their hearts."
The success of these young women serves as a powerful counter-narrative, demonstrating the strong moral and academic foundation being fostered within the community.
The rigorous path to hifth was supported by exemplary leadership from Principal Allama Moulana Sayed Imraan Ziyaee, whose commitment to Islamic education is unwavering. Gratitude was also extended to the dedicated teachers for their patience and guidance, and to the parents and the community for their essential support that shields students from surrounding distractions.
These young women now embark on a new chapter, carrying the immense responsibility and honour of being custodians of the Holy Quran.
