Christel House South Africa has launched an urgent appeal to feed 1 000 families this December through its Buckets of Hope campaign.

The non-profit school still needs to raise R250 000 to provide every student with a bucket filled with essential groceries for the holidays.

Lara Black, development and partnerships director at Christel House South Africa, said: “Our Buckets of Hope, filled with essential non-perishables, help keep our students nourished and stabilise households during a very vulnerable time. Working closely with our families, we see every day just how critical this support is - and we cannot meet the need alone.”

Each R350 donation gives a family staples like maize, pasta, beans, soya mince, and more, helping children and their households stay nourished during a time of heightened food insecurity.

So far, donors have contributed over R100 000, but more support is needed to reach every family.

Supporters can sponsor a full class of 30 students for R10 500, ensuring every child goes home with a bucket in hand. Every contribution counts, and Section 18A tax certificates are available for donors.

To donate, email donate@sa.christelhouse.org with the subject line “Bucket of Hope” or visit www.sa.christelhouse.org/donate and reference ‘hope’ with your initials and surname.
