New Year’s baby Olumiyo Miqi was born at the Tygerberg Hospital at 3:12am on January 1, 2026, to mother Thandokazi Miqi, 36, from Wallacedene, Kraaifontein. Olumiyo, weighing 3 995 grams, is the third child of Ms Miqi. Tygerberg Hospital has recorded at least seven New Year’s Day births so far.
