Saskia Pofadder, the teen who went missing from her aunt’s Bergvliet home, was found in the early hours this morning, Friday January 12.
According to provincial police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twigg, 17-year-old Saskia, of Seawinds, was found safe and unharmed and has been reunited with her family.
Magdalene Pofadder, her grandmother and legal guardian, said police had had notified her that they had found Saskia. She said she didn’t know what Saskia had been doing in Goodwood.
“They phoned me at 12.54am to say they found her there. Wynberg Family Child Sexual Offences Unit went with my daughter, Faranaaz, to fetch her and bring her home. Now she is sleeping. I am so relieved that she is back because I was so worried. My whole family was worried because it is the first time she has done something like this.”
Gender-based-violence activist Lucinda Evans thanked everyone who had played a part in searching for Saskia and getting her home.
“I am grateful, so grateful. The circumstances and healing we leave this now to Saskia and her family,” Ms Evans said.
