Traffic calming measures will be implemented in Lotus River.
Residents of Lotus River can expect an increase in travelling times for the next month because of lane closures from 8am to 5pm starting this week.
Stevens Road from Fourth Avenue until the end of the cul de sac in Lotus River will be resurfaced and traffic calming measures will be implemented as well as new sidewalk along Stevens Road and Oriele Crescent. The work forms part of regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of the City’s road network and although the affected streets will not be closed off entirely there will be lane closures during the course of the work which is set to be completed on Monday May 17.
Residents and other road users are encouraged to adhere to traffic control measures and signs that include a stop/go system.
Rob Quintas, the City’s Mayco member for urban Mobility said the City seeks to ensure the safety of pedestrians by implementing these traffic calming measures.
“Road users, residents and businesses will soon see improved conditions of these roads. Furthermore, we are happy to announce that five members of the community who are registered on the local job-seekers database will be getting temporary jobs on this project. We encourage more job-seekers to register on the City’s job-seekers database,” he said.
