Mitchell's Plain Kickboxing Club
Dear Plainsman Team,
On behalf of Mitchell’s Plain Kickboxing Club, I would like to express our deepest gratitude for the unwavering support you have shown our athletes, coaches, and community over the years. Your consistent coverage of both our successes and our struggles has meant more than we can fully convey.
Following the devastating fire that destroyed our club, your reporting helped give voice to our pain, our resilience, and our determination to rebuild. Buntu Gotywa and Fuad Esack, thank you for the dignity, care, and accuracy with which you told our story—not just now, but every time you have highlighted the hard work and achievements of our fighters. Your commitment ensured that our situation was seen, heard, and felt throughout the broader community.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the City of Cape Town for their generous
R50 000 donation towards our recovery ("Early Christmas gift for Mitchell's Plain Kickboxing Club following devastating fire", Plainsman, December 5)
This support came shortly after the publication of the story, and we are deeply grateful for the impact it will have as we begin the process of rebuilding our club and restoring a safe space for our members.
In an age where social media often overwhelms and overshadows local stories, the Plainsman remains a vital pillar in the life of Mitchell’s Plain.
Your newsroom continues to play an irreplaceable role in keeping our community informed, connected, and represented. You remind us that our stories matter—especially the ones that may otherwise be lost in the noise.
Thank you for walking this journey with us, for amplifying our voices, and for standing by our side in a moment when we needed it most. We are incredibly grateful.
With appreciation, Mitchell’s Plain Kickboxing Club
