Comic Con Cape Town: a celebration of superheroes, villains and gaming

Superheroes, villains, gaming, anime and comic book characters roamed freely at Comic Con Cape Town, which took place over the weekend at the Cape Town International Convention Centre.

Visitors to Comic Con Cape Town on Friday May 2 queue around the convention floor to play Squid Games from the popular series of the same name.

This year, three floors of Comic Con Cape Town attracted thousands to the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), over a four-day event from Thursday May 1 to Sunday May 4.

The pop culture and gaming festival featured all things geeky, including gaming zones and competitions, pop culture merch for sale, stages with talks and Q and A sessions from celebrity guests, including actors, comic book writers, cosplayers and industry insiders.

Visitors who participated in cosplay went all out for best-dressed competition.

Grant Morgan from Lansdowne, Cameron Chawick from Tokai and Cerianne Scheepers from Kenilworth dress up in their favourite Marvel characters.

Comic Con collided with Star Wars Day (May 4) on the last day of the convention which saw more Star Wars themed cosplay than any other day. These jedi said they had to get up at 5am to complete their intricate make-up.
