A woman was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition in Phumlani Village, Lotus River.

Grassy Park police and the Khayelitsha Tactical Response Team (TRT) arrested a suspect for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition on Thursday May 29.
Grassy Park police spokesman, Sergeant Alridge Isaacs, said the members searched a premises in Phumlani Village in Lotus River after they received a tip-off from the community about a firearm at a premises in Phumlani Village.
“The members seized a 9mm pistol, 13 magazines, and 1160 rounds of ammunition and arrested a 28-year-old female as she could not produce a license for the possession of the firearm and the ammunition,” he said.
Grassy Park police officers were deployed to an accident in Strandfontein Road, Philippi, and upon arrival, they found a dead man who had been knocked down by a white taxi on Sunday May 25.
Sergeant Isaacs said: “A male was found lying on the sidewalk. According to eyewitnesses, the individual was struck by a white taxi. Unfortunately, the person was declared deceased at the scene. No arrests have been made."
“A case of culpable homicide has been opened to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident,” said Sergeant Isaacs.
