The Muslim Family Law Hub (MFLH), in collaboration with an estate planning business, attorneys, as well as an audit tax advisory service provider, will host its Build Your Legacy workshop at Tuscany in Rylands, in honour of Women’s Month, on Saturday, August 30, from 10.30am to 1pm.

Established just under a year ago, MFLH is a non-profit organisation advocating for equitable Muslim family law outcomes in South Africa. It provides resources to help Muslims, particularly women, navigate both Islamic and South African family law.

Administrator Sakeenah Dramat said: “We envision a workshop of empowerment, knowledge sharing, and connection.”

The organisation focuses on three key legal areas:

  • Marriage: Islamic principles and legal rights, building faith-based unions under South African law.
  • Divorce: Navigating both Islamic and civil divorce processes, with clarity on rights and responsibilities.
  • Inheritance: Understanding Islamic inheritance principles and how they are applied within South African law.

Ms Dramat said: “The Build Your Legacy workshop will also feature insights on financial and estate planning, an engaging group discussion, brunch, and a curated gift bag.”

Speakers include Fatima Essop (MFLH), Rumana Mahomed (Rumana Mahomed Attorneys Inc), Showkat Mukadam (Legacy Fiduciary Services), and programme director Gadija Ahjum.

Tickets cost R200 via Quicket, limited to 150 seats. Corporate or family tables for eight are available at R1000.
