Gardens in high scoring affair with Primrose
Rugby was back in full swing at the weekend and as teams head towards the finishing line of the season, things are starting to heat up both for title challengers and relegation candidates.
In the Super League C, the race for promotion has been equally intense. At the weekend, Primrose and Gardens engaged in a high-scoring spectacle at Oranjezicht, with Primrose emerging victorious with a score of 49-30.
With 25 points from 12 games, Gardens are six points clear of the relegation zone in their division. However, at this stage of the season, no team can afford to let their guard down. As the season draws to a close, every team is expected to give their all to avoid the chop.
Gardens have a chance to secure their position this weekend when they host Masiphumelele. With only 10 points from 11 games, Masiphumelele face potential relegation, while a win for Gardens would ensure their stay in the division for another season.
For Primrose, the win has positioned them in second place, keeping their promotion hopes alive as they chase to secure the top two spot.
With only two rounds remaining, Primrose trail league leaders Goodwood by three points but hold a slender one-point lead over third-placed Macassar, who have three games still to play.
The top two teams will advance to the Super League B, while the third placed side will have another opportunity for promotion by facing the team currently sitting in 13th place in Super League B in a play-off round.
Primrose was relegated from the Super League B last season and are determined to return to the higher division. Their upcoming fixture against Blue Jets, a side fighting their own relegation battle, will be crucial.
