Bellville Tygers clinched a dramatic win over Athlone Athletics to secure another crack on securing a place in the final of the Cape Town Baseball Federation Playoff Championship semi-final match played at Park Town in Athlone on Sunday.
Trailing 3-1 at the start of the night frame, Bellville staged a dramatic fightback when Kyle Ettish batted home Alan Randal to reduce the deficit to 3-2. With one down, Tyrone Milne tonked a triple to bring home Jonathan Philips and Ettish to take a 5-3 lead.
The visitors then clinched the match with a 5-3 win with a dramatic double play in the bottom of the ninth frame, when shortstop Jesse Hugo pivoted a double play. These results level the best out of three playoff series at 1-all after Athlone won the first 9-6 on Saturday.
