Imraan Philander (4/15 runs) and Mogamad Taahir Fredericks (4/27), from Ottoman, had a good day with the ball, picking up eight wickets, to help limit Cape Town Cricket Club to 98 runs, in 28 overs.
Cape Town Cricket Club fought their way back with Helio Abreu scoring 23 runs off 30 balls, but Ottoman had other plans.
In this low scoring Western Province Cricket Association Premier League encounter, dominated by bowlers, captain Mujahid Toffar scored 20 runs off 42 balls before he was caught by Jonathan Draai off the bowling of Craig Jeffrey.
Ottoman passed the target in 28 overs, scoring 102/8.
The win takes them to four wins and four losses this season, with two bonus points against Cape Town and Milnerton.
Ottoman are on 18 points in eighth position, while Cape Town moves to ninth position, on nine points.
Leading the race is Bellville on 38 points after eight wins and one loss. At the bottom, it’s a battle between Milnerton, Kraaifontein and UWC.
On Saturday, December 14, Ottoman will travel up to fourth-placed Claremont Cricket Club.
Claremont beat the log leaders, Bellville, tied against second-placed Western Province Cricket Club, and beat third-placed Brackenfell by 74 runs this past weekend. They’ve won five and lost two against UWC and Green Point.
