CONCUSSED: Bulls No.8 Elrigh Louw
The Bulls suffered a potentially double Springbok blow ahead of this weekend’s United Rugby Championship clash against Scarlets.
The Bulls klapped Ospreys 23-19 at the weekend, but it came at a loss as winger David Kriel got sent off (red card) while Bok prop Gerhard Steenekamp and fellow international No.8 Elrigh Louw’s games both ended early because of suspected concussions.
White, who already said he does not agree with the Kriel red card [for bumping off an Ospreys defender with a forearm to the throat], says Bulls management will look to have it overturned through the proper channels.
But if Steenekamp and Louw fail a second head injury assessment (HIA) this week, White knows he will need to reshuffle his pack.
The Bulls boss, however, backs his squad’s depth and says: “You have to have contingency plans.
“We lost two guys to HIA, so all of a sudden you’ve got three guys that can’t play next week.
The challenge in this competition is that you need depth and luckily we are fortunate enough to have a lot of that.”
