Santos Football Club had an impressive 2024 season, with several age groups achieving remarkable success in the Cape District Local Football Association (CDFA).
Their under-10 Blue team finished undefeated, claiming the League Winners title, the Grand Challenge Winners title, as well as reaching the upcoming Knockout finals, at the William Herbert Sports Complex, on Saturday, October 12.
Their under-12 Blue team went undefeated, securing both the League and Grand Challenge winners titles, alongside a spot in the Knockout final, on Saturday.
Their under-12 Orange finished as Grand Challenge runners-up and reached the Knockout final.
Under-12 Blue coach, William Francis, said they always aim to dominate possession and minimise fouls from their back four.
“This strategy has worked well for us, allowing our midfielders and forwards the freedom to excel throughout the season. As a result, we average a minimum of three goals per game and we plan to continue playing this way,” he said.
Their under-14 Blue maintained their undefeated streak, winning both the League and Grand Challenge titles. They’ve now advanced to the Knockout final.
The under-14 Orange team finished as Grand Challenge runners-up and also reached the Knockout semi-finals.
“The absolute enjoyment and competitive spirit among all the development teams at Santos has been incredible. These young players compete for one another, their families, and the Santos badge. As coaches, it’s truly rewarding to send positive young men back into the community,” said Francis.
In the under-16 category, the Blue team reached the Knockout semi-finals, while the Orange team finished as League runners-up.
The under-18 team secured third place in the league and made it to the Knockout semi-finals.
The First Division team completed the season undefeated, claiming both the League Winners and Grand Challenge Winners titles, along with a spot in the Knockout finals.
Francis said The People’s team continue to showcase their talent across various age groups, reinforcing their strong presence in youth football.
“The head of development, Omar David’s vision for our development programme – focusing on community work, engaged discipline, and pastoral care – has been key to our growth this season and our coaches are fully committed to this approach,” he said.
The under-10 Blue team, under-12 Blue team, under-12 Orange, under-14 Blue and the First Division are through to the Knockout finals, in Wynberg, on Saturday, October 12.
“As we head into the finals, I wish all teams the best of luck. Always play for the badge, your team, and represent your community as disciplined and positive role models,” said Francis.
