Amador Kalonji, from Strand, beat Sandiso Kota, from Dunoon, to be crowned the new World Boxing Federation (WBF) Africa cruiserweight champion in front of a packed Vibrant Sports on Friday, August 30.
The win moves the Sempur Nobilis (SN) Boxing Gym’s Kalonji to seven wins and one loss in his professional tally, while Kota drops to two wins and two losses.
In round six of 10, Kota took two blows that led to his corner signaling to the official, Cliff Mbelu, they had seen enough.
Both fighters showed character, will and heart, but Kalonji’s power would be the deciding factor at the end of the night.
Promoter, Jack Brice said: “Kalonji and Kota was a great fight. Yes Kalonji was winning it but Kota didn’t stand back. He didn’t stand back at all.”
